The Meaning Behind The Name.
1.optimistic or positive, especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation.
I was first introduced to the word, “Sanguine”, as a lyric to one of my favorite songs by The Avett Brothers. I immediately fell in love with the song for it’s incredibly positive outlook on life. Strong lyrics such as “Kill the doubt that strangles my self worth” remind me to block out my negative thoughts and help me to reevaluate who I am and what I am capable of.
I find that the art that I create is created for either one of two purposes: 1. I find pleasure and relaxation in what I am creating or 2. I am creating to give back something positive or something meaningful to another person. When choosing a name, Make Me Sanguine stood out to me, because my art is what keeps me optimistic and positive, despite any bad or difficult situation. I create art to inspire and to make the world a better place.
Aside from my own art making, I have been a full time art teacher for the past four years. I currently reside in Southern New Jersey, where I teach high school Drawing & Painting and Ceramics classes. In the classroom, we maintain a positive outlook as well and often practice mindfulness through our artwork. Some of my student’s Mandala drawings can be found in School Arts Magazine. I love to link up and connect with other art teachers, so please reach out!
